practice? do you mean drift? if so, dont waste time with VLSD. viscous and clutch type cannot be compared. it would just be a waste of money.

if you mean road race, or some such, VLSD would probably be sufficient, from what i understand. dont quote me on this though, i know little about this topic.

ive never personally heard of rebuilding vlsd's, but im sure its possible. id say you have the right idea to practice with a vlsd then get a kaaz. or just save your money from the beginning.

VLSD, last time I checked can transfer a maximum of 70 ft lbs. Meaning if you have some pretty good grip tires and requires more then 70 ft lbs to break them free, then the VLSD does nothing and eventually will be no longer effective. Don't quote me though, I remember reading something about this a long time ago when I was doing research on LSD's.

Just go with Lockers and your set... They are a bit loud, but work the best of any Diff

Lockers? Please elaborate. Are you talking about clutch, helical, viscous, or a welded dif?

This is what I found "Differentials- Locking Type (Speed-Sensitive) Tractech’s locking differentials are the NoSPIN® and Detroit Locker® brands (same product, different market segments), the Detroit E-Z Locker™ and Detroit Gearless Locker™ brands. They keep the wheels locked together (except when turning) so that together the left and right wheels, always deliver maximum traction to the ground; neither wheel can spin out.

They allow different wheel speeds in a turn by disconnecting the faster - moving wheel (usually the outside wheel - driven faster throughout the turn), driving the vehicle with the other (inside) wheel.http://www.tractech.com/Products.htm
