Mine are out, but I don't know of a place in town that would measure them.

I doubt it since it is not in the FSM and the dealer is not involved in design. Per the FSM, one merely measures the fender to ground clearance and if it is too low, replaces the spring.

Might shoot an inquiry off to Infiniti, but I don't know how far you will get unless someone in engineering will talk to you.

i am lookign at a 97 q 45 with 75 k on it and it is in great shape. the springs look newer and have 3 inch big colored paint spots on the springs. any idea if this means they are not original. otherwise cripes i really like the way they ride. I probably could get it for 7 g's it is a non touring model I have a letter in to the original 11 year owner in chicago. tahnsk wiscoboy

I doubt those are replacement springs...there are no easily found aftermarket springs for the 97-01.

How many miles on the car and what service history do you have for it. The price might be okay depending on mileage/condition and service history.

Unless this is a very low mileage car this is WAY too high. This is now (sadly) a $4,500 car now. NOW, if it has 42k miles and full service history maybe...but for 7k you can get a 1999 or 2000.

Based on averages and older Q, the fronts would be 140-160 lbs per inch until 2002Q

Newbees often get confused with offset from hub or angled mounted springs like the newer G and M models where the springs must be 2-3 times stiffer to net out a 140-160 at the tire wheel road interface.

After all the sole purpose of springs is to hold the body at the correct height to set suspension parameters at design point.

Springs one way or another cannot change handling prowness other than body roll which has a minute effect oveall.
