Thanks to Bulldog's thread here

I went ahead and ordered an OEM spoiler from Bob and installed it last night. The worst part was drilling into the car

It's amazing how that little spoiler can add so much to the V. When I bought mine I made sure it had one because I saw the others without it and it just didn't look right.

I was also coming from an Xterra so I liked the sportier look.

I'm very blessed to have my spoiler! It seems like there aren't many Versas out there with dealer equipped spoilers.. not to mention ABS..

IMO the Versa only looks good with a spoiler. It makes the car.

Looks good, glad I could help. I know the drilling is the hardest part (mentally anyway )

I felt like I was operating on my girlfriend

Edit: What did you use for rust preventative?

Very nice looking car you have there.

The oem spoiler makes a huge styling difference.

But one question. I see many oem spoilers being installed recently and all of them have a "hole" to see the third brake light.

The one I bought at my Nissan dealer surprisingly has an LED light bar and the spoiler covers my original thrid brake light.

Interesting.

Yes, bought it at my Nissan dealer. Opened the box at home and saw an LED light bar on it. I was like wtf? lol I had an extra hole to drill to pass the wires for the light bar.

I don't know how to post pics and don't have an account to upload pictures, I can email you some pictures of it if you are interested.

Maybe it's a Tiida spoiler?

Its definitely different...

weird since the dealer sold it to you. Would make sense if you got it off ebay...

My '09 factory spoiler looks the same as everyone else's: [IMG][/IMG]

I'm really not sure about it myself.

Two days after installing it I went to the dealer to ask why mine had a light bar. The guy at the parts department told me it was exactly like on the new Versa's on their lot.

I told him to go take a look since 6 new Versa's on their lot had this spoiler but NONE had the lightbar. He was pretty shocked.

Let's see what the other guys have to say about it.

Thanks William for hosting the pics. Your car is pretty tight btw.

Dang I like it the dealer I use quoted me $154 and total with installation by them would be $252 something like that. I personally like the LED bar kind of looks cool but I would have to see it in person.

Is that a good price by the way? and does the spoiler effect anything like the windshield wiper or rear washer?? Just curious thanks

I paid mine 290$ Cdn.

If you keep your wiper blade the same lenght don't worry. LOL

There is a small "notch" in the spoiler for the windshield washer nozzle.

Install it yourself. You'll save a lot of cash and it takes 40 minutes. The hardest part is the drilling but they give you a template to know where to drill.

Looks awesome dude. I ordered mine a few months ago but I'm waiting for this weather to warm up so I can install it. Did you put anything down to prevent rust? I bought some silicone so I'm gonna put that on there.

I installed it myself, took less than 30 minutes and came out fabulous. Makes the car look better and more sporty.

Does the spoiler itself or the kit/instructions come with or say anything about making the holes watertight after drilling? rubber gaskets?

Wonder how the Vis Racing spoiler installs...

Regarding the LED light bar, perhaps the spoiler you have is not a North American part. Thanks for posting by the way. I've been thinking about doing the same. I also have the same color Versa and had thought about getting the same wheels (but in different color).

I found this on courtesy Nissan.com it is instructions click and it downloads or should. It is how to install the spoiler I figure it's the guide that it comes with.

Step i: Apply rust preventative (P/N 999MP 9G001P) to the drilled holes.

I don't suppose this rust preventative is included? Personally i would touch-up paint any bare metal and apply a bead of silicone around the holes.

It wasn't included. I got ghetto and used my girlfriend's nail polish clearcoat

LOL. Very creative. That'll work. I would still add a bead of silicone around the holes.

Question: I was at the dealer today looking around while they were fixing something on my versa, on the lot were a couple of Versas with spoilers on them although they were not sport packaged they just had spoilers on them 1 was an S model.

Are they starting to do that just randomly throw spoilers on Versas??

Oh yea all the spoilers on the lot sport and non sport don't have that enormous L.E.D bar that the picture above has, I'm curious about that spoiler if it is Tiida or what.

They do that all the time. Depends on what the dealers order or what the factory allocates to the dealers. The spoiler is part of the sport package but can also be order as a individual option. It's nothing new. Some dealers may also add the spoilers if they think that will entice people to buy, like how they throw on tint and custom wheels (usually with their bad taste in wheels).

Lots of people have Versas, being Nissan's ad agency and all, none of spoilers have the light bar. I'm starting to think it's a TIIDA part (checked 2009 marketing images, it's not a '09 part).

Quick question for you guys, did you use a centerpunch and deburring tool for the install? It says to use one in the instructions but I'm not sure it's necessary.

I haven't done the install but I can tell you from past experience on drilling into sheet metal, a center punch is a good insurance policy. It'll keep your drill bit from running away from you. If you don't want to start doodling on your car with a drill, I would seriously use a center punch. As for the deburring tool, you can just use a rod shaped file. This part of the install is not a big deal if you are not running any wires through the holes you drilled. And if you get the "normal" spoiler without the light bar, this isn't something you need to worry yourself with too much. You do however want to do whatever you deem necessary to prevent rust.
