While working on my daughter’s 2013 Rogue, I end up with an unexpected project. Her passenger side front speaker was busted pumping out buzzes and rattles.

I decided to replace her front speakers with Kenwood Sports Series 6X9” speakers. The task was surprising simple. No modifications.

I went ahead and also replaced the back speakers too. These were 6.5” round but they were a bit more challenging. I managed to modify the original speaker frame and reused it.

I could not tell the polarity of the wires. I found via the internet an unverified source that:

“Gray is positive + and yellow is negative - for the right rear speaker. Blue positive + and red negatve - for left rear speaker”.

Can this be verified or is there way to check?

You can find the wiring diagrams here...
https://www.nicoclub.com/service-manual ... 3%2FAV.pdf
...but the gen1 Rogue FSM's are really stupid, to get the wire colors and connector layouts you need to go to a whole separate section...
https://www.nicoclub.com/service-manual ... 3%2FGI.pdf
...so I'll save you the trouble, since I have access to the electronic version:
LHF - Black+ Pink-
RHF - Green+ Red-
LHR - Blue+ Red-
RHR - Gray+ Yellow-
The AV systems all use the same colors in the door harnesses regardless of trim level, although they vary in the rest of the car between Base, Display, or Bose.

PS - If you get the polarity wrong your ear will definitely notice the difference. The system will simply sound "off" in some way you probably can't put your finger on, and because one speaker is pulling while the other is pushing, you may perceive a reduction in power. The latter isn't real, it's your ear being fooled, but it still won't sound right.

Thank you so much. I am glad the wiring polarity is what I thought.

BTW - the new speakers are a nice upgrade. Sound is clearer and can play louder than the cheap OEM’s. I highly recommend it - minimum investment.
