Hi,

I wanted to know if anyone has replaced the OEM speakers. I did some search here and found some information but it was not that clear.

I have the non-bose system, base model and wanted to upgrade just the speakers with very less modification. I was wondering if I can buy some used bose OEM speakers and use it with the non-bose system, will it work fine, any issues or should I go with some aftermarket ones and do a little modification to get it fit correctly? If so, what brands would you recommend? Also, I saw some on ebay for the nissan bose speakers that look like exactly the same as the Infiniti bose ones but some of them have different part numbers and some don't, wondering if there is any difference? They all say 6.5 inch and have the 3 hole mount clip.

Thanks is advance.

You will not be able to use Bose speakers in a non-Bose car as the Bose speakers using a different wiring resistance. If I recall, Bose is 2ohm while non-Bose is 4ohm.

Just go to Crutchfield.com, type in your car, read reviews and pick a product. THEN, knowing the name of the product, go on sites like EBay, Amazon, etc. to see where the best deal is.

search here in the forums and you will see that lots of folks, including me switch out the BOSE to Infinity speakers. They're direct fit. I do have some pictures on these swap if you want to see. If you really want the BOSE speakers, i can send them your way for cheap.

Didn't you have to match your Infinity speakers to the Bose impedance/resistance? As far as I know, you can't just take 4ohm speakers (non-bose...OEM or aftermarket) and install them in 2ohm speaker spaces (OEM Bose).

This is information per a chat I had with Crutchfield support years ago.

Well I did some research online and there are mixed results about this, some say it will work just fine and some say no. I do not know but maybe it will work as long as I don't go too loud with it.....just a thought.

Does the Infinity speakers sound better than the OEM bose?

i only replaced the door's speaker. in term of quality, it's important to note that your input source is very key. we do not have HD radio so normal radio sounds pretty weak. XM sounds better because they're using the true 5.1 configuration. I have the speakers in the seats and they're amazing.

in short, the investment of switching out these 4 speakers is so minimal that i think it's worth the try even if your "ears" can't tell the different :)
