I just bought an 07 M35, I need to add Sirius. I have read several posts that state that installing the OEM receiver is relatively simple... My question is how are the radio's features compared to those of one of the add-on receivers like you would get at best buy? If you have had experience with the OEM and an add-on receiver, which one do you like best?? Thanks for any input.

I have an 06 M35x and I want to add Sirius as well. I can't find anything online about the ease / difficulty of installing it.. I'd like to know what it involves before buying it.

Anyone have the install guide or something?

I am also interested in what my options are to install Sirius on my own. According to my VIN number I can go ahead and buy a Sirius receiver and install it on my own. What I am unsure of is will I need a dealership to do any software downloads or programming? Does anyone know if it is as simple as installing the antenna and unit in the trunk?

Also, does anyone have a manual that shows how to install the iPod connector?

Thanks

Aside from plug and turn on, no programming is required, nothing to d more than power on unit, activate with SAT provider, and select your channel to enjoy

Is the quality of the OEM Satt Receiver as good as that of an add-on receiver? Does it have as many features?

The feature are that it plays music, integration into car audio system, category search, and thats about all; It has nothing like the ability to scan for fav sounds and change channels, cache music etc like some of the stand alones do;

Its pretty basic - but again, fully integrated - thats what its about (it does show you song, artist etc)

The audio quality is pretty much the same as after market ones, both XM and Sirius seem to be adding more compression to the channels, and sound quality frankly seems worse than when i got mine back in 2006...
