Ok, so my bud gave me a turbxs rfl BOV, so i thought i might install it. when taking off the oem bov, i noticed the small hole next to the 'piston'on the bov. considering the new bov will not have this, i blocked it, and restarted the car to see what happens. Now I know that i have heard that not recircing the bov can cause post shift stumbling, which I do have a SAFC2 to combat, but upon starting the car, the damn thing would start, stumble and die. Recirc or not, it did the same thing. what I noticed is that there is constantly air coming out of the bov, at both idle, and a little more air at light throttle. So my question, has anybody got an aftermarket bov to work properly with the rb20det? How? I know the safc2 has the decel air setting, but what about the idle?

OK, so I am running my stock BPV as recirc and running my RFL on the hotpipe. SAFC2 Decel air function is set at thr.8%, ne1 @.6% and [email protected]% idles around 700-750 when warm........i will see what it idles at when cold tomorrow am.

remove that bov and put it on ebay. there is no need to replace the oem bov. save yourself the hassle. you're not seeing any gains from installing that other than some crap noise, probably leaking under boost, and more than likely making your car run like crap.

actually, the car runs just fine with it on.....it actually seems to spool a little quicker after shifts, which makes no sense as the recirc is supposed to help with that. In addition to that, if the true purpose of a bov is to protect from compressor surge, wouldnt it make sense to have a bov at the throttle and near the compressor??

why would you need 2?

1 moves more than enough air to prevent surge/stalling of the turbo.

My clip came with 2: Stocker and HKS super sound old school. Doesnt hurt, but doesnt help as far as I can tell. No stalling and it sounds cool like an echo at slightly different times.
