When I got my car, it came with one spare Ilco key. No origionals.

I plan on paying a visit to the local Nissan dealership to inquire about getting an oem 240SX key cut.

Is there a difference in 240SX keys between The zenki and kouki change? Do the newer 240's even have their own dedicated keys? If so, does anyone know what it looks like and/or have pics? I have a general idea (round key with a quarter circle hole) but I'm not sure. I dont want to unknowingly buy an Altima key or something.

Key code? I thought all you needed was I.D. and proof of ownership.

not since the recent scams...anyone can get a fake I.D. or "proof of ownership" i guess...

I did not find a key code in my glove compartment, so maybe this is a myth or only for certain year nissans. But I can tell you that s13's and s14's have the same style key. Its just the s15's that changed key style.

Its a sticker...its bound to come off. Just have the dealer run your vin, and if they give you any bs about not having anything prior to 91 in their system go buy a blank off ebay and take your spare and that blank to lowes...they'll be happy to do it for you.

I had to go to an emergency autolocksmith and i brought the lock/handle assembly to him to figure out the key when i lost it last time. He gave me the key code.

I think if you have a sticker in your car you should pull it off and put it somewhere safe cause inside your glove box is RETARDED. Anyone could break in and get a key.

well here's another thought on the matter. If your car did get stolen, what do you think are the chances of them keeping your car instead of parting it out and selling the parts? Also, if your car did get jacked and they decided to keep it, what makes you think they wouldn't just go buy a new lock set with key? Or just get the ones from a junkyard and buy the key from them? To think that just keeping the sticker in the glove box for someone to get a key that way is pretty flawed. If they're gonna break into your car, chances are they're either 1. gonna steal your car regardless at the moment or 2. just gonna steal what's inside. Think they're gonna come back for more later after the owner has found out about the break in? probably not, too much heat on that car. They'd move onto another target.

Well, I went to the dealer and got the key, although it isnt the real oem key (another ilco), it at least looks exactly like it. I was tired of sticking the foreign looking metal key into the 240.

how much was your key from the dealer ?

the ebay ones are like $5, i wonder how much would the dealer charge me to cut it to the vin, since i dont have the keycode and i dont want to make a copy of a copy

It was 7 bucks plus tax,

I went to the Wonderies Nissan in Alhambra. I actually had to go there twice today cause I couldnt find it, I didn't know that it was about a mile away from the Honda and Toyota dealership.

I also noticed they sold a whole bunch of JDM stuff: S13 tails, S13 turn signals, Silvia stickers, the Almighty emblems, S15 lightingbolt emblem, the whole deal. I wonder when that came about.
