at about 3:00am i was playin with my dog by hittin the lock button on the fob...she goes ape s*** over a honking horn.... :chuckle: next thing i know...the car started up and DRLs came on...but when i jumped in to see what it was about, i hit the breaks and it cut off....i've been reading the M book for hours and didn't come across anything about it....i think if i hit the lock button twice it starts...only duplicated twice....anybody have this or know how to fully operate?? or was i just drunk dog walking???

I'll have to try on mine. That would be awesome if it works.

Pissed off the neighbors trying for the past half hour---can't get it to work on my 06 sport 45. Tried with the parking brake engaged, still didn't work.
Would be great if it is some "unlockable" feature!

Guy it is possible that the OP's M has an aftermarket remote start that is program to activate using the door lock signal. This devices can be configure with a double pulse or threeple pulse signal.. Double pulse signal would require the press and depress of the lock button twice back to back. And the threeple pulse would be three times.... It would had been great to have had this feature in the M.

I use my OEM FOB to start the car (remote start) - you have to press lock button 3 times, 1, 2, 3, and the car will start, unlock and press the start button or insert key to start but don't and drive away. IF you press brake pedal before the car will turn off.

Can you upload a picture of the label on the guard?
It seems like it is an 08+ standard option. So if Nissan did it there MUST be a "factory" way to do it on the earlier cars.

OK, it's an aftermarket system made by DEI that operates through the factory fob.
Good deal.

I had one installed in a 2006 M35 that I returned after the lease ended. The only issue was that it only let the car run for 5 minutes which wasn't ideal if heavy ice or snow built up.

I'm not sure where you guys are located but I had it installed aftermarket for 250 dollars using my key fob hitting the door lock 3 times and to shut it off manually you hit the fob 3 more times. The location is Clear-View Inc. located at 62 Merrick Rd Amityville NY 6315987460. The place was actually referred to me by my Infiniti dealer in Lynbrook New York.

If anyone is interested ... I found a remote start system on Ebay that utilizes our existing smart key. Of course, you would need to find a qualified installer.

There's also one for the M45. The site doesn't talk about which years it would work on...

Go to The Hoffman Group and look at the Stellar remote starts. Looks like it is model RS1050. Pretty simple stuff and apparently cheaper if you buy direct. Should work on all Ms as long as you get the bypass module.
