I've been looking into adding a 1.5 way diff into my setup. My car is primarly a daily driver with an the occasional 1/4 track day. I will be shooting for around the 350whp/tq range when my setup is complete. I've been in discussion locally about using either the J30 diff or a new Nismo 1.5 way diff. It was brought to my attention that for the money and my goals, I should try and source a JDM S14 diff which will allow for direct bolt up AND allow me to keep the same factory gearing instead of the J30 diff and the more expensive Nismo Diff. Now, the money isnt an issue persay, but after looking up info on the S14 diffs for sale, I found one but the site claims that the abs sensor will have to be used with the diff. Well, for one I dont have abs and secondly does anyone know the facts about installing this diff into a USDM S14 chassis. I would think that it would be a direct bolt on, though I believe its a 6 bolt pattern where mine may be a 5 bolt(4 lug as of now). I have the parts to switch to a 5 lug if need be. Or is the new Nismo 1.5 the better of the options for me.

The s14 diff would bolt right up perfectly with teh stock 2x3 pattern. I wasn't able to find one, so I have a Z30. I have to get new output shafts/flanges for it because its a 5 bolt and my axles are a 2x3. I guess they're about 100 bucks a pop, but yeah. I would definitely do it the s14 way if I had to do it over again. No issues. Oh, and the ABS does NOT need to be hooked up to anything, it can be detached or made into other uses such as yo yos or shrapenel. I know pretty much all and any facts, including procedure to installing this thing, so I'm your man for that. Advice, go with a diff out of a s14 because of the MUUUUCH easier bolt on. Make sure to change the fluid in it though. If you can't find one, get a z30 NOT THE Z32. The Z32 is the turbo version, has pussier gears, we N/A guys don't want that usually. Anyway, any questions about anything, just email.

I thought the Z32 came in a non-turbo version and also retained the same gear ratio as the 240's? Also, when you say stick with the S14 diff, are you refering to th4e USDM or the JDM?

as far as i know there is no defference in the USDM and JDM diffs. i got a JDM diff and its great, but i doubt its different from the USDM one.

Yes, the Z32 came in non-turbo as well, and does retain the same gear ratio. Like I said though, the Z32 and Z30 will require you to change output shafts. With the s14 diff, there isn't any real difference between the USDM and JDM, just preference. They both will do the same job just as efficiently as the other.

So if I was to source a S14 diff with ABS, there is no difference in the length of the driveshaft or is that just for s13's?

Nope, no troubles at all. The fit might be a little tighter because of the sensor being there, but it will fit perfectly.

i believe but not 100% sure that JDM diffs dont always have ABS sensors. my diff fit perfectly fine and i guess if anything u can just swap internals
