The other day when I was looking at the OEM wheels from Infiniti online; specifically the FX45 20-inch wheels... I found that there were something like 7 or 8 different parts numbers on the wheels for the FX and the 18-inch Q and M wheels. The colors associated with each ranged from a Silver with Gold fleck, to two differerent Chrome version of the same wheel. The thing that got me were the other finishes; smoke silver, light Charcoal, medium silver and Hyper silver. Now I am quessing but would suspect my M has the Hyper silver, but when I swung by the dealer to ask if they had a catalog or way to figure what color is what or what each finish would look like, they suggested I wander the lot and give them the VIN for a car with the finish I want.

Has anyone else noticed this and have any of you come across photos of the various colors. There are a few companies online selling these wheels, each wheel has a different part number, but the photos look the same.

How different are the finishes of our own cars? M's and Q's?

Am about to order my FX 20's, am leaning towards the Hyper Silver finish in hopes it will match my stock wheels on the M. Unfortunately the vendor I am getting the wheels from does not have a quality picture as to compare.... all I got was the Hyper silver finish resembles the inside of an aluminum can.

I did not know they had so many finishes. I thought it was regular and chrome. Well anyway, good luck with your hyper silver finish.

Thought I would hi-jack my own post...

I just spent the last week trying to find a set of Infiniti FX 20-inch wheels in any color and didn't realize how popular they were. OUt of maybe half a dozen distributors who either sell new, reconditioned, or OE reporductions of them... all were sold out. I even had 3 orders canceled after they charged my CC because they didn't have sufficient stock to fill the order. Finally found a set at a wheel refinisher, but either there is a conspiracy to hoard FX wheels or there are about to be a lot of Nissans/Infiniti with 114.3 x 5 bolt patterns running around with OE FX wheels. Am keeping my fingers crossed that these actually make it to me... will post pictures once they are on... if ever!!

Hello, Could you possibly post or send me pictures of your car with the FX 20's on it if you still have car / pics? I am planning on purchasing a set this week as well, and I can only find a picture of a Y34 w/chrome FX 20's on this site. I think the silver will look much better.

Thanks, CD

I've spoken to at least 2 wheel remanufacturer shops and they have both said that the OEM finish on the M35 19 inch sport wheels is really really hard to match simply because they can't match the computerized painting process, as well as the same paint that is used at the factory.

I actually ordered a OEM remanufactured 19 inch sport wheel for my M35 (in case I ever destroyed 1 of my other wheels) and I can tell you that when I put the one I bought next to my OEMs, the OEM finish is definitely leaning towards a more charcoal/gunmetal like finish...It's not a night & day difference, but if you put them up next to each other, and stare long enough, you can tell a difference....

The EPA prohibits the importing of the paint used on the wheels because it is lead-based. There is no exact match for the paint in the good ol' USA.
