Assuming I could get ahold of a pair of HID headlights from an I35 or I30t, how hard would the install be into my non-HID I30? Would I need the whole headlight and lens assembly or just the bulbs, ballasts, and igniters? If anyone has done this I'd appreciate any insight that you might have. Pictures of the factory ballast location from an I30t or I35 would also be greatly appreciated.

I figure it wouldn't be too difficult a swap since it is an OEM option...just more a matter of tracking down the parts for a reasonable price.

You need the whole set-up. With your stock reflectors, you would be "high beaming" people all the time. Your stock halogen bulbs are a 2 in 1 bulb. if you had 4 head lamp bulbs, 2 high and 2 low, then you could do that, just by replacing the low beams. But since Nissan was so smart as to give us the 2 in 1 bulbs, we have to change the whole set up.

There is a company called Co Way that has a "bi-xenon" set up which has 4 ballasts and 2 bulbs. It is made to take the place of our crappy set up. You can reach him on AIM. His screen name is CoWay12

The non-HID A33 I30 does use four bulbs, two on each side, one for low and one for high.

Well then my friend, you are a very lucky man. Buy the ballasts and bulbs, and you should be HID very soon.
