Just tried to put new tires on my Q and found out that one of the chromed alloy wheels that came with early Hicas equipped cars has been damaged where the tire bead seats. Can't find any locally - anybody have one for sale?

Of course, if anyone has a set of the next generation Q wheels of the 16 inch variety, I might consider them instead.

Thanks for any help. Sorry that I don't have a picture. These are neither the BBS variety wheels nor the 'pie plate' type.

Thanks again............John in Seattle

If you have the 5 stubby flat baloon spokes with the radially ridged hubs, those are forged wheels.

YUP, those are the ones, but one of them was repaired many years ago by a wheel repair shop in California. They even keft the repair date on the inside of the wheel. The chrome is flaked off about three inches on the outside bead area and the alloy underneath looks very corroded and is very rough. Got one sittin g around?

This style?

Here's a place that sells them. http://www.capitalwheels.com/s...age=1

Not a great deal but pretty good. I would call all of our sponsors to see if they have any available getting dusty in their stock rooms too. That particular wheel was very strong, but not regarded as particularly attractive in it's day. The take-off market was flooded with them for a while...

For $350 you can buy this style on eBay, which I find quite stylish

In a junkyard in San Jose CA. I saw a Gray '90 with 211K miles on it.It had the same 4 wheels you are looking for. I recollect that the wheels looked great.

The junk yard is Vince's on 10th street:http://www.smartpages.com/home...kers1(408) 293-9570

I drive near by there regularly, but never bought anything, just looked at this one car. Give them a call...

Your picture was the wheel I have, only mine is chrome. I checked out the EBay wheels and might just get them if I can't find one like mine in the next couple of days. I agree, the newer wheels look great. Then I could use 255/50X16 tires too.............John

My guess is that the chrome plating was aftermarket. To my knowledge Nissan/Infiniti has never offered chrome alloy wheels except for possibly some of the newest models. Many dealerships offered a chrome option on OEM wheels, but they were chromed by a third party dealer.

I'm running 255/50/16 Michelin Pilot XGTH4s. on the 16" wheels. They are getting a little noisy as they approach 30K - and that wide of a tire has some lateral "tracking" on rutted or uneven pavement - but I'll buy them again. The cornering performance is very nice!

JedCoop - The car and wheels are gone. The only Infiniti they had today was a J30. The good news is that I have found a place that can repair my wheel. They grind off the rough spot and apply a rubber shield all around the rim which is glued on. Takes 24 hours to cure and costs $45. I went for it. May still look for a replacement, but at least I'll be back on the road!

Thanks..............John

Ther is a shop in Ballard just E of 15th NW at about NW Market that repairs most of the alloy wheels for dealers and owners. Cast is a lot different than forged when it comes to malleability.
