Ok, so my G didn't have a Nav system in it and I want one, so I call my dealer and inquire about it... ... ... uh... so I call Joe at EverythingG35... ... ... um... so... maybe I should look else where. The OEM Nav system(which is what I REALLY wanted in mine) is going to run my $4,350 (rounded down) installed. So I ask, how much is the Nav system itself? Just over 4 grand. WHAT?!?!?!?! So EverythingG35 suggests getting a double din GPS and a mount kit to make it flush. Anyone have any suggestions or done this before? Know where I can get this stuff? I really do not one that mounts to the dash... the whole point of the OEM one is cause of it's location. I would really like one that maybe would retract down into that compartment where it mounts. I know someone has HAD to have been in this same position.

well 4 grand really isnt outrageous for an OEM , best bets is go with that kit or try consider getting an aftermarket pop out \ up DVD NAV system, most of those systems are touch screen also

Do not get a pop out dvd/nav player, that'll just look tacky and ricer-ish. If you're going aftermarket you have to go DD size and you might as well fill it in with a DD head unit. To do that, you can get the DD dash kit, but you also have to change out your climate controls because with OEM, the radio and climate controls are on the same circuit board.

A sweet setup would be a nice DD HU (either go Pioneer or Alpine IMO, both offer a DD HU that will sit flush) in the dash with a custom screen setup where the OEM one would be and an outboard nav system where the OEM would be with RCA converters to plug into the custom monitor.

Looks like you could save probably max $1000. Here's the websites for everything.

ugh... so I took a look at those links, and I see the dash kit I would need, but the DD HU's all say they won't fit my car on the Crutchfield page and I have no idea what I am looking for on the "outboard" nav. I'm learning alot but I am still kind of a noob with all this stuff. So if I understood you right though, I would get a DD DVD stereo HU which would have a screen obviously, and then get a monitor to go in where the OEM Nav is and then the "outboard nav..." well that's where you kinda lost me.

I'll shoot you an email and explain it better instead of creating a huge long post.
