Unlike some earlier Nissans, it appears the Rogue does not come prewired for fog lights. This is why there is no 'fog light kit'.

Your only option is to buy the fog lights assembly as replacement parts and add the wiring yourself. The wiring is straightforward and consists of a switch, relay, fuse and wiring. Any dealer should be able to source the fog lights for you. You can also send a parts inquiry to one of site sponsors on the left.

Good luck!

Replacement fog lights from Nissan are about $130 US per side.

You might find a slightly better price than $130 each side... but not by much. Quite honestly, it's not that bad. The fog light kit for the Altima ('02-06) was about $200.

Eventually the aftermarket will make a knock-off of the Nissan part for much cheaper. But you will have to wait. For example, the '07 Altima has been out 2 years already and there is no knock off fog lamp made yet.

As for a universal fog lamp, nothing is going to fit or perform as well as the OEM fog lights. They have a slanted lens that integrates with the curve of the front bumper, proper mounting hardware, thick glass lenses, and they are sealed to prevent fogging and corrosion. Aftermarket units are going to have a flat lense, mounting will be difficult, and you will likely end up with a large gap. Any high quality fog light kit will also set you back as much as the OEM units. I have went through too many cheap crap fog lights that break or rust out.

If you wish to try, look for any round fog light that is about 75mm or 2.95" in diameter. Another option is to mount them in the front grille area. Then you can use whatever will fit. Hella makes some very high quality and stylish fog and driving lights in all kinds of shapes (the Micro DE and FF series), but they are not cheap.

One of the dealers here quoted me $511 to install foglights on my S model Rogue. That includes labor and the lights but also, taxes will apply. Im mulling this over still :/

Out of 12 local dealers, this is the only dealer willing to do a foglight install. Every other Nissan dealer said they cannot wire/will not install the foglights on a S model Rogue...

I am curious why it seems they are more willing to do an SL model.

Hmmm... I need to investigate my SL further to see if the wiring might in fact be there.

Well whats interesting about this, and I havent had the time or inclination to check, is that the dealership willing to install the foglights said the S is pre-wired and ready to go with them. At least 2 other dealerships said the S is not pre-wired and they wont do the work on it to set it up for the lights. So go figure..

The dealership doing the foglights is the same dealership however that has no clue on the spoiler and wont install it. grrr

Another option is to buy the lights, and mounts, then go to eBay and buy a H11 LED bulb (1 watt), order 2 relays with wiring harnesses, wire them up, and use the driving lights as a trigger wire. My exact plan, I have everything but the time required to do it.

I have noticed some have reported the desire to have the fog lights on with the high beams, and have DTRL's.

The factory fog lights are automatically disabled when the high beams are activated. At least this is the way it works on the Altima.

In Canada, the daytime running lights are activated via a relay which connects both high beams in series... so they burn at half intensity.

I am curious how the optics in the fogs will respond to LED's. The reflector is designed for a halogen filament not multiple LED's. If someone does this mod, please post your results.

Single LED and just as bright if not brighter than the filament bulb

Problem is the LED is a single point of light while the halogen bulb has a filament about 3/8" long. I would expect the beam pattern to be affected.

Try covering your main lamps and just view the fogs.. you'll be suprised to find they are just horrible..

I changed mine out to a whiter/brighter buld and that improved things a lot. Image below is the factory fog.

maximum distance for 3 foot tall object reflection at is only 70 feet. Ground reflection is a paltry 40 foot distance.

The theory of true foglights is to be low enough to shine foreward to a object BELOW THE FOG LEVEL and then reflect back to you, thereby, reducing glare and increasing visibility. optimum color has been amber to try to defeat the white glare of your headlight.

Ill have to try and cover the main light and sees what happens. I just put some 6100k 80 watt h11 for fogs. Also changed the high beam 9005 to some 8000k 100 watt. Havent driven though because its been sitting in the garage.

Now that we've established that all Rogue's come standard with the fog light wiring, I'm interested in getting a set and installing them myself.

I don't know anything about ligths, for those who do, can you take a look at this set currently selling on ebay and comment on why they may be so cheap, and if they would be worth getting (because of the price I'm sure they are crap, but I'd like to know some technical details to back up that assumption). Thanks!

Or how about these: http://cgi.ebay.ca/2008-NISSAN...A1318

The first set are made by Hella, but appears to be thier "Optilux' line which is lower quality IMHO. Real Hella lamps are much more expensive.

The second set is some no name I have never seen before.

The differences?

I have used a couple of fog light sets: The cheaper brands tend to have poor construction, flimsy hardware, and just don't last. Expect 1-2 years out of them. Even less if you live in a cold snowy climate. The housings will rust, they'll collect water, and eventually fail. In addition to the lights, you will also need the OEM turn signal lever with the fog light switch, and fabricate your own mounts. The OEM units mount directly to the bumper fascia, this is not possible with some aftermarket lights.

FYI: The OEM fog light opening is slightly oval and slanted back towards the wheel. The diameter is approx 70mm or 2.75". Lights that 'may' fit the opening include:

- Hella Micro DE series- Optilux 1000 and 1100 series- PIAA 1100x and 004xt

I had the OEM Nissan fogs on my Altima. They were in the car for over 4 years with no problems. Expensive, yes. But they really are plug and play. In contrast to some aftermarket kits, the housings were made of glass and impact resistant plastic, the mounts were very solid, and the housing has vents to prevent condensation buildup.

How difficult is it to remove the FOG light bulbs and replace with a brighter white bulb? Or do you recommend a YELLOW bulb?

The fog light replacement procedure is on page 8-27 or 8-28 of your owners manual. It's very simple.

There is a very good FAQ on lighting at Daniel Sterns Lighting Consultancy website. Here is the article on Fog Lights:

I have been debating about fogs on my Rogue. Honestly, I do not like the OEM fog lights and I would prefer some sort of quality aftermarket unit with better optics.
