Most OEM batteries crash between 36-48 months. Whats is the collective experiencewith the 2003-2004 M45 battery life expectancy?

I purchased my car in late August of 2003. The first battery died in early September of this year, four years after I bought the car. The dealership gave me pro-rated credit towards a new battery, since it had not "gone 60 months". I paid $80 for a replacement (including free installation and a free tow).

So, I got 48 months of use out of the first battery (it had a life of at least 57 to 58 months, given that the car was mftd in Dec 2002 - however, it sat much of its first 9 to 10 months on a ship or at the dealer). This is a good result, imho!

One cannot expect most batteries to live more than 4 years... On some more expensive ones you can expect maybe more (like an optima) but overall I just like replacing batteries every 4 years unless they crap out sooner.

I replaced the factory battery in my '03 in two months ago. My M was mftd in Dec 02 as well. So I got about the same useage as Z.

Factory battery is only covered for one year / 12K full replacement... 2 and 3rd year are pro-rated up to 36K...

a NEW battery purchased from INFINITI / NISSAN has a 2 year full replacement or 7 year 84 month pro-rated replacement...

Interesting! My dealer treated me right, then!

I got a pro-rated replacement after 4 years ... on the original battery the car came with.

I need to double check on the INFINITI original battery warranty actually now that i think of it...

I know the NISSAN original battery is the 3 year prorated....

Need to check on the INFINITI, it could be 4 years or more prorated...

But, there is also always a chance of the service writer doing a "Good Will" for you if you have been a good customer... but these can not be over-used...

Well ... that is indeed quite possible!

Given that I have purchased three Infiniti's (two Q45's and an M45) from this dealership in the past 17 years; referred my boss to them too (he bought two Q45's from them in the same period), and do go back to them for most work (except for the in-between oil changes), they probably try to look after me well.
