Well I'm not sure if anyone figured this out before but the VQ30DET engine has a 93mm Bore and 9.0 compression standard. I'm not quite sure about piston height etc but as its nissan I think its a pretty good bet that they would be at least similar to the VH's so they could be a good cheap option for a mild turbo project. People seem to think the VQ30DET is good for 450-500hp on standard internals so the pistons should be fine in a sub 15psi boost situation on a VH I would think.

I remember reading a thread on this, from what I recall they aren't a direct fit. and required some machining to work, and then the quelsh would be negatively affected

yeah we had a big discusison on this and I think the verdict is itd be much easier to have custom ones made rather than trying to retrofit the VQ.

I remember plenty of discussion on the subject, but I dont recall anyone ever obtaining a set of VQ pistons for comparison.

In my mind, VQ30DET pistons are an internet myth, just like the KA20DE...

I asked elwesso to check out some dimensions of another factory nissan rod to suit the VQ30DET pistons, but the rod was too wimpy to be of any use.

So aftermarket rods would be needed, at which point you may as well be putting in forged pistons too.

If you want a built motor, you'll probably end up spending close to 5k to get all the additional goodies you need to make it worthwhile (fancy rings etc)
