Experts,

Do you know what tires came from the factory for a 1990 Z32 TT?

That is, who was/were the manufacturer(s)?

TIA

I believe most TT were Goodyear (possibly gatorbacks); 245/45/16 rears, 225/50/16 fronts.

Thank you.

The reason for my post and question is I am considering buying a '90 Z32 TT and it purportedly has 10K original miles, and in general, is all original.

The car has Dunlop SP Sport 8000's on it and am trying to determine if those tires were even made in '90, and if so, were they ever used as USDM OEM tires by Nissan for the '90 Z32 TT.

Look at the manufacturing date of the tire will tell you what you need, usually near the DOT numbers. There will be a four digit number, first two are the week number (00 to 52), the second two digits are the year(ie 99= 1999, 01=2001)

I had Sport 8000's on my car , got them in 2001 , but I don't believe they were sold back to early 90's - I may be wrong . They were (for the price /Dunlop's rep.) very crappy , soft sidewall , riding in a boat , gave what I hear this site called the rear end "death-sway" when carrying JUST a medium load (people/stuff). And like itsa3300zx mentions - the production dates , I believe mine had the week/year 2+2 digit code , but I understand that system was started around '99 . IF you have older , or early 90's it may be a different , more cryptic system of date stamp.

I NEVER even considered Dunlop since , even though I realize this was long ago and probly , something decent now in their UHP performance line ?? Don't want to find out , nor make THAT mistake again !!!

And " Gatorback " WAS the trend back then bigtime (long gone?) , but the SP 8000's had ,I was told a "new" Hi-tech trend design , closer to what you will see last couple years and nowadays. You know, deeper circumferential grooves , 2 to 4 near the middle for freeway stability.I'm gonna bet if got the 2+2 date code , and not much dry-rot would be the case , they are replacements , your 8000's.

Thanks. Now that I have the car, the tires actually look to have about 90 percent tread on them and no rot. Definitely not the original tires.
