The 4 bolt spacer thing behind where the oil filter screws onto........mine is leaking. Is there a gasket between it and the block? If so, anyone have a part number for the gasket? Also, on my old ca18et.....it had the 4 bolt holes, but no spacer.....the oil filter screwed directly against the block. Can the spacer on the ca18det be taken off, and the filter screw on against the block like the ca-et?

Here's a pic of my ca-et block....

Removing the oil cooler might be easier said then done. Keep in mind those coolant lines running through it.

With so much b.s. involved is it really worth it? Your not really gaining anything.

Gasket part # 15239D4200, alternate 15239D5700

Mine never came with the oil cooler but it did have a spacer thing.

as stated in the first post....it's just the spacer. There is no actual oil cooler on mine...so no coolant lines.

These don't look like Nissan part numbers.....what brand are they? Looks like you're in Calgary. I wonder if these numbers are any good in the U.S.?

Any idea if the ca18de Pulsar has the same gasket?

They are Nissan parts #'s, trust me.

Nissan numbers are good everywhere in the world.

Ok..thanks

Is it an actual gasket..or is it an o-ring?

Can the adapter/ spacer be removed all together, and the oil filter seat directly to the block..like in the above picture?

It's a gasket that is sahped like the machined boss. Use the spacer...its there for a reason.

If there is no cooler...what's the purpose of the spacer?

I provides a proper surface for the filter to seat against and moves it further from the block so you can actually get to it when you change it.

Think how much more it will be buried underneath the intake manifold with it removed.

Does it look like the above pic behind the spacer? If it does...then everything would be fine. My ca18et never had the spacer.

I've got a oil filter relocation kit....so getting in there on a regular basis isn't a concern

The part number is just missing the dash. 15239D4200 = 15239-D4200

IIRC there isn't any threads on the CA18DE(T) block. It's just machined for an o-ring.

The spacer has to stay.

Don't use RTV in place of anything that has a gasket available for it.

No, you can't use RTV on flat surfaces. There has to be some sort of groove for it to form a bead in.

It's the compression of the gasket that forms the seal, and when you compress rtv, it just squishes out.

If the auto parts store's have it, it'll have to come from a warehouse, but most likely it's a dealer only item unless you get an engine gasket kit.

ok...makes sense about the rtv.....thaks. I had read on Driftopia that he had used rtv when installing his oil cooler, thats why I was asking... (bottom row, center pic) http://www.driftopia.com/2008/...ooler

I was looking at the fsm last night....looks like in addition to the flat gasket, there is also an o ring behind it. Should this be replaced too...and any idea if it might be a common size a parts store would have?Nismo Parts list both above gasket numbers. Both numbers are for the same gasket??

I'd replace the gasket and the o-ring. No you can't get the o-ring from a hardware store. They aren't designed to handle petroleum products and will dissolve.

You can try the RTV and it might work, but I'm a, "do it right the first time" kinda guy, so I'd get the gasket and o-ring.

no...i wouldn't use a o ring from a hardware store..I know better than that.

Parts stores typically have universal automotive o-rings...thought maybe I would be in luck there. Anyone have a part # for the o-ring from Nissan? What I'm trying to prevent is taking it all apart, then have to wait 3 weeks for a new gasket/ o ring..if I can pre-order that would be ideal

You wouldn't happen to have the part number for the o-ring that sits behind there would you?
