just noticed this for the first time friday when i was driving from San Antonio to Houston. The odometer would get stuck after a few miles and just not move. when i stopped for a bathroom break(64 oz drinks = bad idea for teh middle of nowhere on i-10) i started it up again and it was working fine again. about 15-20 miles later it locked up again. it only seems to do this on teh freeway and most often locks up when teh last number is a 9. It did this on teh way back too. so my total 250mi trip put about 36mi on teh odometer. has anyone had this problem before? im worried how long this has been going on on this car. anyone know what to do? is the dealer legally bound to fix this for free or anything like that(like seatbelts)?

I don't think they're legally bound to fix it. Your best bet is to buy a take-out instrument cluster and swap the whole thing. I see them on eBay from time to time, and a couple of guys are parting out first gens right now. Does your car have any options? (TCS, etc) that would limit the type of cluster you could swap in?

The other option is to replace the odometer assembly with a new one. I think they can set your ODO to the correct reading at Infiniti of Scottsdale.
