ok, well here is the brief story, i've been noticing that i've ran a alot of miles.. its been a month and a few days since i bought my altima coupe, and lovin it so far. i have 1,900 miles now, which is HUGE..or too much for one month i say. and so me being the usual paranoid kid that i am, i started observing my trip meter, and it seems to just go up oh so easily and fast... and i just commute from my house to work everyday, which is 9.5 miles, so 19 miles round trip.

calculation22 days a month excluding weekends to work22 x 19 miles = 418 miles

+

3 trips to LA 120 + 120 + 120 (roughly) = 360

+ random miles = 100 (bleh)

total : 878 miles. + the 60 miles on it before i got it = 938

if so, where is this 1900 miles coming from, i should have about 938 miles! is my trip meter broken?

p.s. in the middle screen where you can see your mpg/mph etc. it says Time: 738Miles: 945 <--- that seems more like the miles i've run...

HELP i'm just dumb

I think you're just in denial about how many miles you've put on your new car. I know I was shocked to discover that I had put 100 miles on my new baby in just 3 days----and I have another car I drive to work!

Those miles do add up fast! You might not realize it.

...or...an elf is stealing your Altima at night and taking it for a joyride while your sleeping.

They do add up fast...

I have almost 6k/km since I picked her up. You know what it's a car, it's meant to be driven, enjoy it and stop worrying.

Too many in my family/friends question my KM and I just don't understand it.

I'm pretty sure the national average miles per year is around 12k. You're on pace to double that.

That said, Bembol is absolutely right. Its your car, its meant to be driven; therefore, put as many miles as you want!!

Just remember, your regular maintenance will need to be done sooner the quicker you put the miles on.

I don't have a Coupe, so pardon me if this sounds really dumb, but a lot of new cars can be flipped back and forth between Miles and Kilometers. This makes it easier for the car maker to build cars for all markets. For example, I rented an Impala, and I could flip back and forth between the two. Does the Coupe have this feature, or is there one build for Canada, and a different one for the U.S? Maybe you've got yours set to metric????You can stop laughing now. Thanks.

1900km = 1180 miles, so that may be the case. Not too sure. I've had my car for 4 months and have only 2,300 miles.

You make a good point. Maybe its set to KM and not miles...

You may as well enjoy it, you are paying for it.

I have 11,000 on my 07 Max, and have loved every minute of it.

Just think of it as quality time with you car.

well if you're really paranoid, and assuming you always pay for gas with a credit card, you could go through your credit card statements and add up all the money you've spent on gas and that should give you a rough estimate of how many miles you must have driven.

I had 28k miles on my 06 frontier before I sold it after 18 months of use. In todays world cars and trucks are made to be driven toys are made for the garage. If you use yours as a daily driver you should have higher mileage.

If you are that worried about miles, get an extended warranty if possible.... but you should see your car reaching more than 150k before its life is over (with regular service).

I put 3000 mi. per month commuting alone and I have used GPS systems to verify both miles driven and miles per hour and the A/C I have is very accurate. I found the Nissan Sentra I did have had a 3 mph error in the speedometer so it would tell you yer getting 34 mpg when you really are not.If you are not getting 500 mi. per tank then you are a lead foot or you are doing alot of town driving. On my 64 mi commute to work I encounter only 2 Stop signs and no lights. To be safe I got a BtoB 120K Extended Warranty.
