My Rogue (which I love and have named Lila) has started beeping at me when I drive and when I look down the odometer numbers are all zeros, but half-sized. They blink back to normal after a couple of seconds. I took her to the dealer and they said the computer didn't show any problems, and of course she wouldn't do it while there. Has anyone else had this problem? It is kinda driving me crazy because the frequency keeps increasing, and the beeps are distracting...

Well... although I'm not aware of this occuring in a Rogue yet... but I'm afraid its not an isolated incident. As you may know the small zeros in the odometer window are a visual indication as you adjust the brightness of the instrument panel lighting. I would suggest giving the dimmer knob a couple quick spins in the event it it might just be a flaky connection in the knob.

Try this... turn the instrument light dimmer knob until you see the row of small "o" s appears in the display and let us know if thats what you are seeing when the situation occurs. If so I'd say you have a flakey gauge.

At least you'll be able to show the dealer what the situation is rather than trying to explain it.

That said... here are some other Nissan owners with the same situation. You might want to share this with your dealer.

Even better yet... you might want to show your dealer this YouTube video clip: You Are Not Alone !

The half zero is the brightness meter. So there might be a problem with the brightness adjustment system(don't know what it call)

Elton, that is great information, I'm sure it'll help out hjelder. You might not want to be so helpful or else you might find yourself with a moderator job!!

Now he/she can go back to the dealer and suggest they take a look at that brightness knob and actually track down the problem rather than just shrugging it off. If we can find the answer or at least a starting point to start investigating, I can't see why the dealer couldn't do the same and more.

Seriously, your knowledge and willingness to help are appreciated....

Thanks so much for the info! My dealer, sadly, sometimes treats me like I have to be dumb about my car because I am female. Going in armed with information helps them listen.

My Rogue does that too. I noticed that it happens only once the car has warmed up and rarely before 5 minutes of driving. The frequency of the beeping occurs more frequently with time.

I will try to play with the brightness knob. If anyone finds what to do, I'd love to know! My dealer only said that it wasn't worth spending time on it since the car is running well anyway. It started when I hit around 130 000kms

Thanks for any help guys!

My 2010 Rogue started doing this tonight. The odometer blanked out about 15 times in a 25 minute time period. I took a picture of the digital display when it blanked out just in case I needed some "proof". I will try adjusting the display brightness before calling the dealership tomorrow. I just hope that it is nothing because I have less than 3K miles let until my warranty runs out. :-/
Thanks for the info/suggestion.

Since I played with the brightness knob, it did not happen again (finger's crossed). As long as you report it before you warranty runs out, you will be fine. They have to enter it in their system even if they don't do any repairs right away, this way, if you go over the millage for the warranty, they will claim it anyway.
But don't worry, nothing else happens. No transmission or mecanical failures happening even if the odometer beeps and blanks out.
