i feel like im posting a lot but i'm going to hope this topic will help somebody else also. i JUST noticed today that my odometer doesn't move on my J30... right now i believe it's stuck at 156k & so miles and i traveled over 70 miles today and it only moved one mile up from what i noticed. i feel its important to get it fixed quicky because somewhere far down the line i might want to sell it but i don't want to sell a car that does not have the correct mileage on it, and i'm questioning if the guy who sold me the car knew about it, i'm going to assume no just to not be blaming. does anybody know is this easy to fix or what might be the problem? or maybe the questions already been asked and direct me to the topic. i didn't find anything when i searched. thank you all! :S

To fix:

Method one: replace instrument panel. (Hard)

Method two: replace motor that moves the odometer on instrument panel. (Harder)

Reason this happened: because the odometer may have been rolled back causing the motor that moved the odometer to crap out. (Do a carfax)

replacing the cluster is easy, a ten minute job for most, and these are also easy to repair.

Odometer failure on the J is pretty common, especially on vehicles that originally started their lives in northern climates. The odometer part doesn't like temperature extremes.

I have the same problem with my J30. So is it a hard fix or easy one? How much will it cost to fix?

That's what happened to mine right before the hail storm hit. AN OMEN IT WAS. 139999.5 miles and it stops.
