I have a 1993 240 and my odometer wasn't working so i pulled it out and messed with it a little. I have deteremined the gearing is ok, and the contacts look ok too so I figured the servo motor must be bad. I have the panel from a 1990 240 and I was going to just swap the servo motors from the two panels. But when I got ready to do it I noticed that the motors have different numbers written on the back, but otherwise look the same. Can anyone tell me whether the odometer servo from a 1990 will work with a 1993? By the way, if you can think of anything else for me to try with the orginial odometer to maybe fix it, let me know. thanks.

you are out of luck unless you can swap the entire speedo assembly. Anything you do to the odo will tamper with it and is illegal. Unless of course you have a salvage title.

I did have the old speedo so i finally got it to work! For some reason I blew the fuse for the instruments when I was trying to fix it, you should have seen me trying to figure out what happened after everything went dead. I bought the car with the mileage uncertified, I just wanted to keep it working so I could be good about changing the oil and stuff.
