Odd Whistling/Humming Noise

Hopefully this is an easy answer and someone has experienced it before...

Whenever I hit the gas pedal, I hear an odd whistling/humming sound. Not like a high pitched whistle a human would produce, but more like a "ooohh" sound (kind of like creepy wind in a movie...?). When I let off the pedal, it stops.

The noise has been there since I got the car and as far as I can tell has no affect on anything what-so-ever.

Any ideas?

Where is it coming from? The engine bay?

It may be a loose connection somewhere on the intake or intake tube. It may also be a bad throttle body gasket. I experienced a whistling coming from the throttle body (due to an insufficient seal at the throttle body gasket), I had to apply some RTV gasket between the throttle body and intake manifold to get rid of the whistling.

It's hard to say...

As far as I can remember I can only hear it when I am inside the cabin, but i'll try pulling on the accelerator cable from the engine bay and see if hear anything.

What is RTV gasket?

I got the same noise, my mechanic said it was due to the replaced timing belt being a little tight but nothing to worry about.

Yeah as far as I can tell it's causing no harm. I haven't got my timing belt replaced since I got the car, but I did get it close to 100,000, so its possible the previous owner got it replaced.
