Being a victim of a thrown KA rod, I recently purchased, rebuilt, and installed a new KA. I installed a brand new timing chain kit from "Evergreen". When it came time for the first start-up, I could not get the timing right. It was way advanced and I could not get the timing to 20 degrees advanced with the distributor adjustment, so i moved it ONE notch (positive, tried it multiple times). Then it was way retarded and i again could not get it to 20 btdc with the distributor.
I spaced the distributor and got it to 20 degrees btdc but the car still feels weak and the timing seems to be still retarded. It hesitates on low rpm and has no power up high, even for a stock KA.
Has anyone had this problem before or know of something I did wrong? Any help would be awesome!
