so im reading a bit on skylinesdownunder. and i come across this:

"R33 turbos are not T28, they are a custom Nissan/ Garret turbo with a T3 flange. All RB single turbos use T3 flanges."

i find this strange because everything i have ever read mentions an Rb25 having a bb T28 with a ceramic compressor. now this guy claims they are infact NOT T28's. suprise. any imput?

Not sure, but maybe a T28 compressor with a T3 turbine?

I'm not suprised because he is right. Nissan builds them, they have a T3 flange and they look fairly similar to the older Garrett T3s from the L an FJ. Where this T28 thing came from I don't know, perhaps the wheel has T28 dimensions? I have only taken them apart explosively so I haven't measured them.

I took my RB25 turbo by Tial before I put it on... they said that looks weird for one... mostly the joined center section... and that it's somewhere between a t25 and t28. So I guess this supports the full on hybrid garrett/nissan theory. Hope this helps.

Mine spools stupid quick on my RB20 so it can't be that big...

I noticed that The Turbo on my RB25 did not have a ceramic wheel and was a ball bearing, then again, my Rb is a SII out of a 96 R33
