i have a S13 blacktop in my S14. the problem is i can't get the motor to crank/ start up. the motor is turning over, but its not making the usual cranking noise. at first i thought it was the starter solenoid, but i replaced it and it didn't help.

Can you hear your fuel pump turn on? Is your ignitor good? Have you pulled any codes from the ECU?

Have you checked spark and fuel?

yes, i can hear the fuel pump running, but i haven't checked the ignitor. i checked for codes yesterday and the first time i did it came out as code 12, which is the air flow meter. i checked again after that and it code 55 came up, which is other malfunction. i am getting fuel, but since its been doing like it is, will i be able to check for spark?

55 means its good, as for spark, yes, you'll have to ground the spark plug in the coilpack TO the engine and have someone crank the engine(take out the fuse for the fuel pump when you do this) Than you should be able to clearly see if there's spark or not

well its getting spark, but i was looking around and i noticed the MAFS signal input wire was ripped apart. i wired it back up, but still nothing. if i put up a video of me trying to crank it, would that be any help? i'm also gonna get my friend's ignitor chip and see if that does anything.

Yea post a video, as for the MAF, shouldn't do anything right now because really you should be able to turn it on and idle without the MAF hooked up, you just can't rev pass a certain RPM.

If you're getting spark, there's no need to swap ignitors, the ignitor sends the signal to fire the spark plugs to each coil pack.

Have you checked if you're getting fuel INTO the cyclinders? Maybe faulty wiring on the injectors, Double check that you're getting fuel through them.

ok, i'll check on that and get that video up soon. i dont really get it though, all i did was check the timing to make sure it was good and it doesn't even start up now.

Are you sure your engine isn't flooded? Sounds like at times that it wants to catch but doesn't. I'd check the injectors to make sure their working

well, i looked down into the spark plug wells and i could see fuel on the pistons, so i'm guessing they're working. but i'm having a friend come over today to look at it, so maybe he can figure it out.

Make sure to get rid of that fuel than because it can stop it from starting, it may look like a little bit, but even that small amount can have an affect. So try to burn that off by unplugging the injectors

did that, but no luck. i'm gonna try to get a friend to look at the wiring for me and see if thats the problem. the guy who did the wiring was suppose to get rid of some excess wires months ago, but now he's avoiding me and i can't get ahold of him at all. so i may have to get it sent off and have it repaired. thanks for the help though guys.

bump, still having this problem. i found out the timing chain had been knocked way out of timing, so i removed it and put it back on how it should be. i figured that would fix it, but its still doing the same thing as in the video.

i'm starting to think it had something to do with the wiring. where should i start at as far as checking for voltage and other things?
