odd starting issue VG30???

Ok, when I start my car (VG30), it makes a wierd growling noise when running, it sounds kinda clangy and stuff too. The radio won't work either. Now if I shut the car off and restart it immediately after starting it the first time it doesn't make any of the noises and it runs fine. What could be going on? I was thinking that maybe the starter isn't disengaging right or the ignition is acting up, but I really don't have a clue?? Anyone??

still sounds kinda vague, what kind of car we talking ? Z31? Z32? whe did the problem start? have you replaced or added any parts recently? have you checked for signs of anything visable rattling or rubbing ?
