I find that sometimes when I turn the car off, the volume on the radio resets to 16. I generally listen louder than that, so I know it's not me turning the radio down and forgetting about it. It seems to be kind of random. It sat all night last night and when I turned it on the radio was at 23 where I left it. But when I stopped for gas earlier in the evening I was listening to it on 25 using the accessories setting while I pumped the gas, then turned the car off and ran inside for 5 minutes, but when I started it the volume was reset. Is this normal, or some kind of setting I can change?

Not really a big issue, but it is annoying so I want to have it fixed before I start adding any more stereo improvements. Right now all I've done is replace the front speakers/tweeters, and I remember it happening before they were installed so it can't be that.

This is normal. If you leave the stereo at "too high" of a level (somewhere between 21 and 24) for more than a minute or two with the power off, it resets. It's a safety feature.

It's also an indicator that, if you are leaving the volume at that high of a level that it resets, you may have some hearing loss, you're listening to the music too loud.

Many newer aftermarket decks do the exact same thing, for the same reason.

I hate to say this, but you might want to see your doctor and have a hearing test administered. I know you had a badass system in your 'Rolla... and that may have caused something to happen.

I'm in a similar boat, I need to turn up the volume somewhere between 18 and 24 to hear "reasonably"... and I know I'm somewhat hard of hearing.

Maybe your V has a mind of its own and does not like loud music . On the serious side, mine dos not do that.

I think this feature may also be in place so that you don't get in your car and turn it on only to realize that you had the radio set high when you got out and it starts blasting and scares the daylights out of you or wakes up your neighbors. Alot of aftermarket head units have the same feature for that reason.

I'm not too worried about hearing loss. I only have to crank it up that high to listen to one CD. It's the soundtrack to the video game Final Fantasy IV done on a piano. I think the recording volume is just low. Others I generally listen to around 20-22.

I routinely have my satellite radio hooked up with the FM transmitter and I have to max it out at 31...

the audio level for my sat radio is soft , kind of annoying.

CDs? 24 is often way too loud. neat little feature about the volume reset though.

Yeah...this is a nice feature I didn't even know existed. I'm pretty sure I have some hearing loss and have had my music blasting when I got home. Later when I went to use my old Kia I almost wet myself when I turned it on it scared the daylights outta me!
