ok, say you do a total rebuild on your motor, (new cams/forged pistons/turbo/etc...) get everything done, but you build it to redline at, say..7500rpms. where would you go to get a new tach that read the proper rpm and displayed the proper redline?? (i.e. redlines at 7500, so the red shaded part of the gauge goes to 9500 or so)??? ditto with the speedo. youve got your fresh new turbo KA (guess it doesnt matter what engine you got) thats pushin say, the magic 300rwhp. your car can do more than 120 now. where do you go to get gauges thatll read the correct speed/rpm that surpasses a stock car?? and im not talkin about those bolt on ones you stick on your dash. IMHO those look terrible. but i guess i think that cause i see alot of em on rice burners. anywayz, TIA, plz no flame, and i DID use the magic red search button. have a nice day :)

P.S. all of the above is theoretical, i havent done any of it...yet. step number one is to get me a 240...which i *may* be gettin today....

autometer makes in-dash gauges as well as the bolt-onto-the dash kind. jcwhitney.com and carparts.com sell lots of differnt kinds of autometer gauges

You're not gonna go over 125 w/out disconnecting or bypassing your speed govenor.I'm not sure how you would go about bypassing the govenor but I know that if you disconnect it your speedometer won't work.Don't know too much how the rev limiter works.

I think you would have to go with one of those big tach's. I dont think the odds are in your favor of finding a set of gauges from another car with a higher redline, and having them fit in the 240. You could possibly try and find a set of sylvia gauges, because the SR comes with a higher redline. And if you get any kind of ECU work or engine managment, it should get rid of your speed and rev limiters. What kinda 240 are you getting Dark?

i don't know where you are, but around the sf bay area (most of cali too maybe?), you gotta jump on those 240's as soon as you see em. S14's would last maybe a week tops, but S13's would be gone after a day. After 6 months of searching, I finally got my S13 cause i was the very first person to call the dealer after the ad came out. He said like 20 other people called him that same day (could have been lying though to make it sound like i HAD to buy it ASAP)

for the tach, if you did have the rev limiter bypassed or just got another computer you could probably get a good graphics shop to make you an overlay with a higher redline. im redoing all my gauges, im gonna have a whole gauge cluster fabricated with autometer gauges, so i wont have any bolt ons hanging everywhere, might wanna look into it. i got a 96, so its the same cluster. just get a piece of fibre glass or bruched aluminum or whatever else that will go with your interiow, mines gonna be brushed aluminum to go with my trim. but just basically get it cut into a flat plate that gos with the conour of the front bezel, then get cut outs in it and mount the gauges, or something like that. might be alittle hard, or expensive, but youll get what you want.
