odd problem:97 maxima se 5spd.

1997 maxima se. 5spd. 218k.

replaced fuel pump and changed spark plugs. ran a couple cycles of fuel injector cleaner. still have the problem below.

This problem came out of nowhere. whenever my fuel level goes below 1/4 tank, once the car warms up, it begins to sputter, hesitate. i have to be extremely light on the gas or this happens. pops, feels like misfires almost. if its full or even just above that level, its fine. i questioned the gauge but the level still drops normally if i keep driving below 1/4 tank. any ideas?

Have you replaced the fuel filter?

ive got one, wont be changed until this weekend. i certainly am hoping this helps/fixes the situation but it doesn't seem like it would. when fuel filters are bad enough to warrant replacing, besides maintenance, it should do what im describing all the time once its under constant load(warmed up, any interstate driving), not just when the tank is low. i dont know though, we'll see this weekend when i change it.
