I have a 2007 Altima 3.5 SE Sedan. I have noticed and odd noise, like a clunk everytime I start driving, particulary if press the accelerator at medium in a sudden way. The sound only occurs when cold. I'm worried 'cause I know the ABS sefl-test sound and this one is different. Is like an engine mount clunk, but this car has only 15K miles. Any idea? thanks in advance!

read your owner's manual or do a search

Edit: oops, didn't read the whole post... define medium acceleration.

Thx for your reply guys!

I already went to the dealer and they told me that sometimes hydraulics engines mounts make that kind of noise but I'm not sure about that and I'm not satisfied with that answer. Im still looking for second opinions.

beeristasty:

Medium Accel = when your press the pedal quick or sudden to half way. Im still searching for a similar issue.

I get that noise when I park and first start. It's not cold in FL, so I don't think it's that. I'd like to now what it is.

I wouldn't be satisfied either.. A newer model car should not make a "clunk" noise when you press the gas. Our 08 Suzuki Reno doesn't do anything like that and it's only a $10k car brand new... Don't know what type of area you live in, but if you live in an area where there are multiple dealers, I'd try another dealer to see what they say...

i have the same noise when cold. I was not sure of the issue and have not had time to go to a dealer. It does not happen all the time but engine mount noise does make sense.

Everytime as in everytime, or as in at the start, or how often does this occur?

Everytime the car gets cold, for example in the morning when I go to work it happens once when cold, the next time will be on next morning.

Mine makes clunk noise that only happens when first pulling out. If you pull out slow it will be more of a click clunk type noise. If you pull out from driveway and pick up speed it will clunk 3 or 4 times. This is ABS self check. Try differnt speeds and listen you will see what I mean.

Im familiar with the ABS sound, this one is different and similar to a bad engine mount, the strange thing is that only happens one time when cold.

The dealer should be able to pin point noise with chassi ears. If you keep taking car back they should be able to fix it.

Hey, i have an 07 SE with 32k now - i have heard this front click/clunk when pulling off since about 15k. It was intermittent so i didnt bother too much, now its doing it almost every time i pull off - hot or cold. I have an 05 with 75k thats been clunking all its life and after many visit i figured out it was the passenger engine mount! Glad i didnt change struts tho like the dealers wanted! Which mount did you find faulty??

Congrats on getting your ride fixed. I was gonna say I had this problem but only after my CVT was changed. The mechanic put on of the mounts in backwards causing a clearance problem. Not sure if you had work done before or if it might have been installed wrong from the factory. Apparently the mount can be installed two different ways. I believe they told me the clearance problem was the exhaust hitting the underneath of the car due to the improper position of the mounts. If some of you guys are still having the problem, have them check the transmission mounts for proper installation. They might be in backwards. Goodluck!
