Sometimes just after a shift when releasing the clutch i hear a odd noise. i think its something related to the TO bearing rubbing on the clutch fingers. at idle the TO bearing is making alot of noise.

im thinkin i need to readjust the clutch but its a PITA to do...

any suggestions?

so ive readjusted the clutch, high engagment, low engagment and the sound stays.

happens after a shift above 3 or 4000 rpm and sounds like a gear is grinding buy deeper, longer and softer. (its NOT a gear grinding. transmission shifts perfect)

comeon guys any suggestions before i wind up parking it and pulling the transmission?

this ****ing sucks im tempted to just sell it and buy something nice. i dont have time to deal with something this serious right now and wont for about another year.

what does this have to do with venus?i put a resurfaced flywheel in, new clutch, pilot and throwout bearing.

and id rather not drive it, its getting worse and hard to control, when you can normally slip a clutch to move forward its just lurching and making that noise, loudly, even with the pedal fully released, then the noise slowly goes away..

finish school.

going to the Nascar portion of UTI.even if i dont get a job in the race field, the fabrication stuff they teach out there alone is worth the time and money.

(full tube chassis and frame building, sheel metal rolling and cutting, welding, etc)

but im busting my *** to get a job inside the racing field (nascar or other, prefreably other ;) )

Where in NC are you moving? It will be nice to have some more RB's in the state.

When was the last time you drained your trans fluid? Might be worth draining and taking a look for shavings.

mooresville, and unless i land a permanent type job (career) in NC the 240 is staying in arizona.

and there is nothing wrong with the transmission, it shifts as perfect as i could have wished for, up, down, sideways etc. no grinds, no hard shifts.

Did you ever run the motor with the old clutch? If you have it laying around it might be worth a shot swapping the two out. Even if the old one is on it's way out, at least it would be a comparison and would help start eliminating possibilities.

Check the arm for the TO bearing to see of the free play??? There are several length TO bearing sleeves for Nissans, may you got a one of the wroung length?? Is the sleeve for the bearing the orginal RB25 or aftermarket?? If it is aftermarket chances are its the wrong lenght for the RB.......

i might have the old clutch lying around but it was pretty ****ty, and im pretty sure if there is a clutch problem ill see it once i get the transmission off.

mack im running a RB20 transmission, using the TO bearing that came with my clutch (RPS organic for a NA Z32). the stock RB20 and z32 TO bearings are identical (compared every aspect i could to make sure) the clutch has worked great untill this past saturday.

my friend reccomended i get a new slave cylinder, i think im gonna try that before i go dropping the transmission.

The bearing are the same BUT the sleeve it attaches to are different length and could cause the lack of free play!! There 22mm, 20mm, 18mm,16mm and really old ones are 24mm..

Thought we were supposed to use the TO bearing from the 300zx twin turbo, not the NA??
