Hello,

I searched several different forums for a related problem, but I came up empty handed.......

After a few semi-hard drives up the mountain (I live outside Denver) I have noticed that the car starts to whine a little. When I'm done, the whining has increased to a fairly high pitch but the volume varies depending on how hard I drive. This will continue for several minutes after the car has been shut off.

The whining is coming from the trunk area, near the fuel pump but more forward in the cab. My interior is completely stripped and if I slap the area, the whining will either change pitch or stop.

My first thought was fuel pump, but could it be something to do with the fuel outlet or return lines? I suspect something like this because of the general location of the whining.

Any input at all on this subject would be greatly appreciated!!

could be a bad check valve at the pump now that i think about it since the vehicle still holds pressure after it is shut off it could be the fuel bleading back into the tank through the valve that is suppose to hold the pressure in the lines
