hey, i have a guy who im about to buy a 240 from in this community..

he has some problems and i am just posting for help around the sites.. could anyone help please

these are the symptoms:

1. Seat belts wont go foward unless the key is to the on position. almost like they dont get power other wise

2. Clock doesnt work even though cluster works fine

3. hazards dont work.. but turn signals do

4. radio not getting power.. but now the cig lighter is gettinb power after replacing the radio fuse

5. Map lights inside the car dont work

the car is a 1992, 240sx with a 1998 engine in it.he just replaced the cluster because the speedo wasnt working, but now it is, he also replaced the accessory relay and that didnt solve the int. elec. problems.

anyone know what the problem could possibly be?we thought of a cut/corroded/shorted wire, but just cant seem to pin point the main source of the problem.

any help would be very appreciated!

DUDE your sig is seriously disturbing!

Check the fuses in the car and under the hood. The clock is on its own fuse along with a couple other of those items.

yea thats whats odd.. like a few of the things on the circuit work some function but not 100% and some dont work..

i think the ACC relay in the engine bay controls all of the things that are having problems? i replaced this relay and nothing.

all fuses in the fuse box are ok.. i even went through and bent the fuse tips a bit to make sure they are makin good contact.

I went to test all the fuses with a test light but the fuse was blown. I am goin to go through individually to see if i am getting power at the fuse box for each item.

My question now is...

i dont recall seeing a fuse specifically for the clock which one is it?

things not workin as stated above are.. the Radio, Map lights/dome light, hazards (even though blinkers work, and if the hazard button is in the turn signals dont work).. the seatbelts only work when the key is to the on position.. etc..

do these things have one common fuse/relay/connection? I dont think so but i guess if it does thats where it would be best to start checking.

yes they all go throuh the 3rd fuse down on the right side of the fuse box if your looking straight at it. This is the fuse box in the drivers kick panel. See if you have power on this fuse.

ok i would like to let everyone on this forum know.. that nistech is the mofuggin man!!

haha.. there were 2 fuse issues.. one being the onet hat nistech pointed out.. that one was blown.. must ofblown while troubleshooting other things because i know it was fine when i checked it.. anywyas.. for those that would like to know..

the Interior light fuse controls power seat belts when the ignition is off, it also will allow u to use the first "click" on teh wipers, its for the cluster clock also along with the interior dome and map lights..

the radio issue was just as simple.. i shold of saw it.. but it looks like the previous owner jabbed some wire down in the fuse spot and spread the connection open.. so i bent the fuse a bit and booya got connectionnow the car has jams.. just when i had given up..

great to have guys like Nistech out there willin to answer the stupidest of questions to takin a stab at the hardest.. u da man..

haha as u can tell i am very happy and grateful
