Ok, so I'm swapping motors (threw a rod in cylinder 3, love the 2 in hole in the block) in my s13 and I come across an oddity. On the engine that died (ka-e) I have all yellow top feed injectors with the number "A46-00" printed on the side and "JECS" near the top of them. They are old enough that the bodies are all a nice rust "color". I don't think anything of this and yank the motor. I get to looking at the "new" ka-e and see that they are all physically larger and have red tops with shiny bodies (oooh, bling...). I do a double take and have no idea what's going on. I went out back to check my parts 240 and sure enough, all it's injectors are red tops. This leads me to believe these are the stock injectors for ka-e's.

I am kinda wondering about these yellow top injectors now. They were shimmed with an extra o-ring when in the fuel rail because they were too short to fit all the way to the manifold snug. Any idea what injectors they are?

well, stock injectors are red on both the e and de, there is also supposed to be about a 3mm or so seal at the top of the injector if thats what you mean by shimmed.

they were probobly replaced at one point with aftermarket injectors

I am trying to figure out which injectors are stock on the ’89 240SX (which I assume is the same as the ’90). On my car I just bought I have three that are a darker red and say "JECS" and "MADE IN JAPAN" and have a bright silver color mid section. The one that is different has a top that is brighter red, almost reddish orange and does NOT say "JECS" or "MADE IN JAPAN" and the middle section is a dark gray color, almost black. Does anyone know which of these is stock and what the flow rating of them is?
