Is your new one a rebuilt one? I have had issues with rebuild starters going out really fast after i replaced it! Just a thought?

Hey dude, you may wanna have autozone do a starter current draw test on your electrical system before and after it gets totally hot. That IS an odd problem.

I know I bring this up everytime, but you do have a good ground that is providing adequate cranking current?

Finally someone with the same damn problem im having. I hate driving my car because of this. I went and bought a damn audi so i didnt have to worry about. This summer i was going to drive it, beat the hell out of it, and let it sit for ten minutes to see if i can get it to mess up. If it does then i going to check power at the solenoid and after the solenoid to see if im getting a voltage drop. If so then its a bad solenoid. If the voltage is fine then im stuck. I all ready added a ground from the starter body to the chasis. I dont have a battery or charging system problem. I have a new redtop and quest alt. This is what stops me from driving this this when i want. keep me posted on what you find.

Thanks for the update. I'll double check mine too. How did you test to see if that was the problem?

Unlikely.

the ground problem i had before was i wasnt gettin any thing to work until i ran a line from battery to block. But i guess my ground wire from battery to chassis wasnt that great. I never really noticed the hard hot start problem because i would only drive my car once a month maybe. But since i totalled the VW and the 240 became my daily ive found out these little problems ive been fixing one by one

hmm...mine appears fine at least. Looks to be going from the battery -> bolt on battery tray -> engine mount bracket bolt

try running a ground from your trans to the chassis. since the starter is grounded off the trans it might help
