Hey Guys,

Hoping someone here can provide me some help or insight to my problem. The car is a 2001 QX4 with the HID/Xenon headlights. Recently the passenger side headlight has turned to a very pink hue. The other headlight is working normally but the passenger side is clearly dimmer and definitely pink. My question is, does this sound like a bad bulb? Would replacing the bulb likely remedy the problem? Are there other parts that could fail resulting in a headlight not working properly? Please help!

Thanks in advance

Pink headlight = first phase of a dying Xenon, get it replaced. If you do plan on doing it yourself be very careful in the process .

awesome, thanks for the reply

what precautions do I need to take in replacing it other than not touching the glass of the bulb and hitting it against anything? Should I replace both at the same time? Do I need to remove the battery or anything else to get the back of the headlight?

You are pretty much correct, don't touch the bulb. The first rule of replacing parts is to disconnect the battery as well to avoid shock, yet few actually do it

You can get factory replacements from Nissan itself at a premium. You can try contacting some of our sponsors like EverythingNissan, Midway, etc to see what they may have and pricing. There is also ebay.

When you get replacements always get them in pairs and replace both of them at the same time. With HID bulbs, you will see a lot of different ratings like 3000k, 4000k, 5000k, etc. The higher the kelvin number the more color the bulbs will have (6000k is more blue than 4000k). Factory Nissan/Infiniti bulbs are in the 4300k range. Personally I would not go with any bulbs higher than 6000k

great advice, thank you I ordered a replacement Sylvania bulb that I am going to try by itself. If the color is way off I will just get a second one. It looks like she will be selling her car in about 6-8 months so I didn't want to spend unnecessary money. And definitely not give the stealership $375 that they quoted her JUST FOR THE PART
