the car just started doing this about a month ago. it is an 89 240sx. i read through other headlight problem threads but no one had the same prob that i do. i was driving at night and the headlights were on a dn working fine. they have never given me any problems prior to this. when i parked the car and turned the lights off, the lights went off but stayed up. my first thought was crap, cuz i know this electical system can be a pain. i thought it might be because i did the sleepy eye mod where i cut the brown wire in the headlight switch. i pulled the switch out and put the wire back together and still nothing. i replaced the 3 black relays in the fuse box on the driver side just behind the headlight, there is a possiblilty that these are no good, but i was pretty sure they were fine. regardless they didn't help at all. if i crank the lights down manually they will not come up whe i turn the lights on. they will light up but not move. the switch to move them w/o the lights coming on (where i did the sleepy eye mod) doesn't work them either. i have not yet tried to crank em down and hit high beams so i don't know if that will work or not. any help will be greatly apprecitaed. i am going to fiddle w/ it more today and post if i find anything else out. thank you

lemme get this right... headlights wont go down right? i think its a bad switch. try that out. go to your local nissan dealership and order a new headlight switch, and swap it out, its a common problem with s13s; headlight switches going bad. or if your risky like me, go to the junkyard and pull your part welcome to nico btw

alright sounds good, i'll give that a try next and see what happens. hopefully that takes care of it. i'm goin try one off of a parts car that had the headlights fully functional before starting to part. so it'll be free and hopefully work. thanks for your help and for welcoming me to the forums. i'm new to owning a 240 but not new to working on them. it started out as my daily driver but these are hard cars not to fall in love with. even so i still miss driving my rx-7

I had the same problem today, I ran a search on nico, read three posts, and went outside and swapped out the headlight switch with one from my last car and BAM, everything working perfect again.

I love the search button!

I have the same problem.... I've been continuously popping the hood and manually doing it... I switched the switch and nothing... I'm waiting for the headlight control relay but would that be the problem? I know the motors arent bad... It's always a mystery... If the relays don't work, then I'm just gonna go sil-80...

I don't understand why you'd take the effort of searching, finding a thread, then not read the posts...

I wasn't asking any questions... what I said in that sentence wasn't a question being asked to the boards... I hardly even come on this board to ask for advice because I would get remarks like yours all the time... And that's just from reading all the other posts. I read the post so STOP assuming that I didn't... I was just stating a comment with what's going on with me... I've already tried everything stated on Nicoclub and other 240 msg boards...

Blah blah blah.... Whatever.... Don't try to comment back because I'm not even gonna come back on this post and read it so save your remarks for someone else...
