so i have a friend who is investing in an 89 240 and he wants to swap in a v8(and transmission) from his ford truck. honestly i think its a bad idea could do so much more but the guy is hell bent on doing it so i told him id ask.

*sigh* the transmission is a c9 and the dimensions are as follows:Width. 20.2 inches (513 mm). Height. 16.4 inches (417 mm). Face to Mount. 22.9 inches (582 mm). Length. 28.9 inches (734 mm) also go to the following site for transmission specs:

http://www.fordpowerproducts.c...4.pdf

the engine is a 302 hypo high out put. i guess it was from a 74 mustang. this is the info he gave me about the engine "WIDTHLENGTHHEIGHT 289/302Windsor460242927.5"

if there is any other info you guys would need to see if its even feasable... i have no idea honestly lol told him i didnt know if it would even fit all right thats why i ask here. tell me whatcha guys think.

Im sure you cant just drop it in and expect it to fit perfectly, but it is possible.,seen it before.

your prbly ganna have to cut away some crap though and all that to make it fit.

Good idea though, i'd be like WTF!! if I rolled up to that soundin' like a beast -good luck

I have worked on a lot of Ford's but have never heard of a C9 transmission. One big problem he is going to have is weight. Any kind of swap is possible as long as you have plenty of time, money and knowledge.

he says he is pretty good with metal. and id imagine he is going to be doing it himself. whether it is the c9 or not i dont know just what he said and what that link says * shrug* i know he doesnt have a lot of money but he has more than enough time. either way i told him id ask lol. he is mainly concerned about whether or not the transmission will fit down there lol he's pretty sure he can fit the engine in there.

I would say go for it--like the other post said--ANYTHING can be done if you have time and dinero. *note---You can take an otherwise good 240 to the graveyard really quick if your friend finds out too late that it is ALLOT of work and fab.
