Okay heres the run down, I hear theres a way to use a paper clip at the diag port to get the check engine light to flash the CE codes so you dont have to pull out your ecu. Is this true? if so does any one know how to do it? I've searched and cant find any write ups on it. thanks

+1! I know how to do same said procedure on obd1 Mazdas but have not seen such way for the Nissan. On the mazda there is a diagnostic plug in which you jump two pins, and then bam when the run position on the ignition is hit the CEL flashes to the beat of CE problem code. I would like to know if there is a way to do the nissan.

Check the fsm...it should tell you which pins to jumper.

Well then I must have missed that when I was looking through it. I'll look again.

yeah i got all that, my problem is i dont have a lot of time on my hands i work and go to school full time. I was hoping some one knew which pins on the diag port to jumper in order to get the CEL to flash the codes without having to take the ecu out and do it this was. Does any one have a generic nissan OBD1 "scan tool" that could hold it up to the diag port close to plugging it in and tell us which ports the pins connect to? or posibly take a picture of it loosly connected to the port so that it can be seen which ports it connects to?

Go to local parts dealer, they usually scan for free.

Should also be a procedure involving the key/door or something to get CEL to flash. Would think searching would find it somewhere.
