Does anyone know of a good ODB Scanner or Consult for '96 Infiniti Q 45??

Also if someone is well versed on the subject can they explain or provide a link for the protocol as I would like to attemp to program this using a microcontroller (msp430) as the interface.

Thanks Guys

Since it is ODB-II (for a 1996 model), I would also suggest http://www.autotap.com.

I think Squeefoo and others are focussing on the pre-ODB-II version (i.e., ODB-I) for 1990-1995 model years. Right?

If you're not looking for full Consult functionality, the CarChip is also pretty cool. Logs a number of parameters at 5 sec intervals for later analysis:

Not sure if there would be any difference in OBDI vs OBDII for full Consult function - both have the same Consult plug.

OBD II ports are identical across all makes. OBD I are not.

I have a 95 Q. I know there is a way to find the codes with a small screw driver. I can not locate my computer. Can you help?

Your Ecu is located on the passenger side near where your right foot would be. there is a small panel there. remove that and you will see the ecu harness. take the ecu out and on the back you will see a red led light and a small screw. Ask Elswesso for a copy of the FSM. that should help alot to. there is a post somewhere around showing how to pulls the codes and what each code means. Use the search button. it helps alot.
