2001 Nissan Sentra
Last November during a trip my Sentra would occasionally chug during freeway speeds. The car would shake as the motor seemed to loose power, and the Service Engine Soon light would flicker. This lasted for about 1 tank of gas, and then seemed to be corrected with the next fill-up. I assumed that I received a bad batch of gas, and everything was good with fresh gas.
My wife was driving in January, and she said the car did it again while she was driving, but I was not there to confirm this.
Today the problem resurfaced. I was driving down the interstate when I would feel the motor chug, and then regain normal rpm and smooth operation. About a 1/2 mile later it happened again. About 1 mile later the care chugged really hard, the Service Engine Soon light came on and the motor died. As I started to make my way off the freeway, the motor came back to life. Since I was not confident in my vehicle I returned home without any problems. The weird thing is between the chugs, the motor runs strong and normal.
Any thoughts on what I am experiencing? I am hoping this is a common problem that the experts can comment on.
The car is a 2001 Nissan Sentra, 1.8L, with 110K miles, and paid for.
