I own a 1996 n/a Z32 with about 70k original miles, my clutch recently started slipping and gave out so I put in a brand new and much better clutch and flywheel.
Ever since then 1 out of every 10 to 15 times I start the car it will grind really loud and not start. However if I put the car neutral and physically push/roll the car a few inches after this happens it starts up totally fine like normal with no more grinding.
I'm thinking the starter may be grinding with the flywheel. It is the cars original starter. Since it doesn't happen too often and since I can always still get the car started...should I worry about this immediately, or will it be OK to wait a while till I have more time to fix and look into this in January, has anyone else experienced this same situation? I just don't want to damage anything else.

Thanks,
Kyle

I'd take a look at the starter to see if anything is damaged right now.

Bad teeth on the flywheel could also do it, but since it's so frequent i would side with the starter being the issue.

Starter could be getting old/weak and not fully engaging the flywheel as much as it should which would cause the grinding.

Thanks for the replies everyone, really appreciate it! I only drive it a few times a week while I'm finishing up college currently so I wont stress too much, but I'll check it out on winter break next month for sure.
