I'm currently going to be upgrading my car finally and these are the items I am thinking about purchasing. I'm asking for opinions on the OBX items VS other brands. Will I "basically" get the same performance saving more money going obx?

My car KA24DE (240sx 97) Base Model

OBX header for 165.00OBX short shifter for 70.00OBX Blue Spark Plug wires 40.00AEM Short Ram Intake 135.00Total= 410.00

Vs.

HotShot Headers 300B&M Short Shift 280.00Magnecor 84.00Injen Short Ram Intake 200.00Total= 864.00

As you can see for less than HALF! I get the same items

Side note: My car seems to be idling/shaking recently. Could it be due to the air filter has never been changed? (hencing buying a new intake) ...I put in NGK platnium spark plugs. Any ideas?

you get what you paid for but if you install it right and take care of it, i'm sure it'll be fine.

for the shaking, check all your vacuum lines and you can take out the filter and see if its dirty or not

Checked the filter, it's black on all edges, took out a few leaves...and i checked my spark plugs that i just put in 7,000 miles ago...they are BOSCH platnium ><, ...**** I thought I had NGK, I'll read if there are any problems with the BOSCH ones, but if I remember correctly they are crappy :(

What do you use to clean your MAF, and where is it located?

I take it you know where the airbox is since you've checked your air filter before. The MAF is the silver (or black, depends) circular object attached to the airbox that has a wire clip/harness (4 wires) coming off it.

Remove it from the car, pick up a can of electrical contact cleaner (about $4 or so at autozone), and spary the hell out of it. Make sure to get the cleaner into the slot that runs the length of the inside of the MAF. The cleaner is non-conductive and dries in a few minutes. Just keep blasting the insides of the MAF until the fluid dripping runs close to clear, let it sit for a few minutes, and reinstall in the car.

ive heard that obx is cheap, and so is there quality.

my friend had the obx short shifter on his 240, and had some kind of problem with it....either didnt shorten it enough or it broke or something. he installed the Band M and its a huge difference! i just sat in it and shifter through the gears real quick. it was so much tighter than stock, it was aweosme. hes had no probelms with the B and M and he said to definately spend the extra dollars if your going to get a short shifter.

Ah thanks! This is the feedback I want to hear, though it's not favoring OBX, still good to know. Maybe I'll go OBX on the headers to save cash, the thing is I'm not really hung up on buying "the name" as pose to buying to getting the job done. If there is a 10% difference between the obx short shifter and the b&m, screw the b&m right now, it's not worth the extra 130 bucks. :)

theres a lot more than "10% difference" between OBX and B&M. spend the money now, youll be glad you didnt throw away that first $100 a year from now.

BTW when I do finally decide to pick the parts (looks like obx, by reading tons of forums for hours, b&M people are rather biased, but i was more interested in the people who had OBX and B&M, much more "honest" answer) ...Anyone has enough free time to help me install the header and short shifter? FREE booze and meals will be included as well as my thanks :D, I'm located in Tarpon Springs, Florida.
