It's pretty easy - -pull up on center console and it will pop right out(seriously, it's that easy). -Then remove the 4 bolts holding down the rubber boot you see. --Next you want to pry back the second inner boot covering the bottom of the shifter-The only tricky part - remove the snap ring holding the shifter pivot ball into the transmission. I got a snap ring removal tool that makes it a 5 second job from Harbor Freight for maybe $3-4, but you can do it in about 5 minutes with a small allen wrench and a small flathead screwdriver. Put the allen wrench(or other very small metal rod) into one hole on the snap ring and pry it inwards to get it out of the groove it is sitting in. Wedge the screwdriver between the groove and snap ring and carefully work your way around the ring, slowly prying it out. After a little bit, the snap ring will just pop out. I did it this way in about 45 seconds the second time I did it(removing the shifter on my clip), but the snap ring removal tool is cheap and makes the job just that much easier.
-Installation is the reverse of removal - just make sure you put all those plastic bits on the right place on the OBX shifter.
Hope that helps!
