OBX shifter install

I recently installed the OBX short shifter on my 89 240sx. Has anyone noticed that the bushing that goes on the end of the asembly and into the transmission is considerably smaller than the stock one? Thinking it was a mistaken part i ran out to the dealer and got a stock bushing and put it on. It fit fine and the shifter works and feels great, but now i am starting to hear a slight noise at low RPM that sound like a rattle/scraping. Am I just hearing normal transmission noise? (My center console and shiftboot are gone and have yet to be relaced)

For the sake of argument what would happen if you failed to re-install the wave washer?

mine was very very tight. i couldnt get it in at 1st, but i could tell that it was so close so i just used a dremel with a sandpaper tip thing and got it to fit perfectly, try that with the one they sent you, you can probably just use a peice of sand paper or something, it didnt take much at all on mine, i just did a little bit at a time and kept trying it until it went in.

I stuck my shifter in the freezer while I removed the old one. The cold temp will shrink the bushing enough to allow you to push it in with little effort. But the two pieces of the shifter arm broke loose when I was putting the shift knob back on.

i didn't have any problem sticking mine in all the way, but it rattles like crazy at higher rpm's. anyone know what causes the rattle and how to fix it?

B&M shifter does that rattling thing too.. especially past 6000 rpm. I was annoyed at first but it's kinda like a shift light but instead of a light, it just makes a noise.
