Ran across this rare exotic last week at the gas station. Before I rinsed my eyes out with 93 octane, I snapped a few pictures.

The owner must have sensed I was planning to ridicule his spectacularly-personalized mode of transportation, because he got out, glared at me, and finally flipped me off.

Next up - This one actually took some effort to capture (you may have to click to zoom).

Now, a still-running Chrysler K-Car (Lebaron?) is enough to make the evening news...

...but when you add a late 80's Pontiac Grand Am urethane bumper, well, that's worthy of a Special Report.

(Not seen: The drywall screws holding it on.)

Last but not least, I'm on a pretty busy State highway, and observe a car with its driver door ajar. It's a beat-down Saturn.

That can't be good - wonder if the driver knows? I notice the car is leaning to the left, and the driver appears to be holding the door closed with his hand!

Better catch up for a closer look...

Wow. Dude is, shall we say, incredibly HUGE. As in, overweight.

We stopped at the same store, and he got out... There's a reason the door is open. He can't close it - too wide.

Yep. Driving along, HOLDING THE DOOR up against his hip.

Whoops - Almost forgot this one (click to zoom).

Such an appropriate plate for someone driving a new Eclipse:

Someone needs to tell the Saturn owner about the Crown Victoria.

I love that k-car for its brutal awfulness, and being a convertible means its owner occasionally likes to be seen. That's like someone walking around the mall with one of their balls hanging out. Horrifying to see, but you have to admire the bravery.

What is the imitation GTR anyways, a civic?

Gasp at #3 too. I used to have a fat a** librarian in middle school. We made fun of her because she would be out of breathe from just the morning announcements. She had to drive a miata too which made it funnier watching her struggle to get out of the smallest car made.

#3 for sure.

It's been about 4 years since I've seen a peer of my 86 LeBaron on the road. It is a rather popular car at my daughter's HS, old, square, drop top.... Starts every morning 20 degrees or warmer.

Amazing for what it is.

Greg, can you give a description of the sky-tegra owner for us? You know... for stereotyping purposes.

I feel proud when I look at this picture, like a father proud of his son for graduating high school with straight A's or a mother proud of her daughter for marrying a good man and making wise choices. My response is of that nature as it further affirms that Nissan made a limitless, timeless, and 'amazementless' vehicle that enthusiasts from other car niches are still undyingly attracted to.

This man, whoever he may be, deserves a round of applause for taking on the brave an activity that he knew would eventuate into social and societal repercussions. Not many of us are brave enough to turn another brand of vehicle into one of Nissan's infamous GT-R models. We would be too afraid of paparazzi-type personalities consistently prodding fun and pointing at them, but this, I repeat, this man, took this venture into his palms and proved just how much valor is contained within him.

This man deserves a round of beers, tab on me, and a congratulatory reassurance for his resistance against mankind and societal requirements for appearance and judgment. He cares not what others think of his ripped rear plastic window. He cares not of who may look in awe at his disregard for daily upkeep. He cares about what is important in his life, not of those small distractions that we all face on a unsparing daily basis.

One round of beers for this man and me and the Oakland Raider's football game on the TV, barkeep.

Because this man cares not of his personal appearance, not of the unusual fitment of himself in his motor vehicle, not of the person next to him snapping a cadid of his situation. He cares about what is important in life and what every American should strive for. This man has a chore that needs to be accomplished and will accomplish it in any means available and with determination like no other. If this means that he will jam himself into an economically smaller vehicle, he will do in order to accomplish his chore. You may wonder, what is this man's chore that he would go so far as to shove himself into an uncomfortable seat? That, good people, we will never know. He may be busy off to murder his wife, or just picking up milk for the two twin children's twelve birthday party's cake. Whatever it may be, we know that he will accomplish it.

Determination, we all want it. Determination, only certain individuals can have it.
