I have a 2006 350z and recently purchased a vgate scan obd2 elm327 scanner for use with the torque or dash command app. I cannot get it to connect to my Z no matter what I try, its paired via Bluetooth and I entered the vehicle info but it just will not work. I know the scanner isn't faulty because I managed to get it to connect to a buddies 2014 mustang. If anyone has either a step by step guide on how to get it working with the Z specifically or knows some small seeing I might have missed I would greatly appreciate the info!

Might want to call the scan tool manufacturer, they likely have a help line.

They don't have a number but I emailed them and they sent me the same instructions i got and referred me to their online installation guides which didn't help. This is the scanner I have, http://www.obdinnovations.com/vgate-elm ... s-scanner/ I do not see why it wouldn't work.

This is why it's worth a few bucks more to buy a brand thats been around and has an actual help line. Sorry I can't provide specific help, most quality manufacturers have a help line for this reason.

There's a wiki for the Torque app that has a list of Bluetooth obd2 units with some comments and pricing. They might have some insight into the issues that you're having.
